125 shots on display.
The exhibition, with free admission, will be open until Sept. 5, 2021 “The restart in my opinion is not to start from where we were, but to add what has been learned.” These are the words written in the exhibition catalog by Giovanni Laviosa, President of the Carlo Laviosa Foundation.
On Saturday, July 3, the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the exhibition of the 4th “Photography and the World of Work” competition sponsored by the Foundation and the City of Livorno entitled “We will return to travel: work in tourism between tradition and new forms of hospitality.”
The opening will take place at 6 p.m., in the Park of Villa Mimbelli (Livorno, Via San Jacopo in Acquaviva, 65), the exhibition will be set up in the Granaries of the Villa.
The contest was well attended: photographers entered from all over Italy, many from Lombardy, then Lazio, Emilia, Campania, Marche, Abruzzo, Sicily and Liguria.
Lots of people from Tuscany.
But photos also arrived from Dubai, Germany, Denmark, Cape Verde and Turkey.
Some numbers: in all, including single shots and photo stories, 341 photos were submitted and the jury, after a careful and strict selection, chose 125 of them for the exhibition, considering them the most representative of the spirit with which we will be able to “travel again,” of a new idea of the future and work.
It was 10 percent of the works submitted in photographic teams.
The jury “reviewed 341 images,” writes Simona Manfredini (Carlo Laviosa Foundation) in the introduction to the catalog, “among photographic stories and single shots, all worthy of note for their interpretative commitment and original vision of the world of tourism, of the human resources committed to enhancing the treasure chest of beauty that is our country and the special sense of hospitality that is an expression of our way of being.” In the garden of Villa Mimbelli, during the ceremony on Saturday, July 3 (6 p.m.), the winners will be announced.
At the moment we announce the five finalists who are: Giuliano Del Gatto, Ambra Montanari and Pietro Romeo, Nicolò Panzeri and Mattia Micheli, Marika Puicher, Daniele Stefanini.
But only at the time of the inauguration, in a sort of Oscar Night, will the prizes be matched to the names of the finalists: 4,000 euros are provided for first prize winner, and then two prizes of 2,500 euros for the runners-up and two prizes of 1,000 euros for the third.
There is also a special mention by the Jury, which, we recall, was chaired by internationally renowned photographer Letizia Battaglia.
The competition benefited from the collaboration of Fotoclub 9 and FIAF recommendation.
