\nAn exhibition by Martin Parr, internationally recognized as one of the greatest contemporary photographers<\/strong>, who has transformed documentary photography into art photography through an extremely original point of view and an exaggerated use of color, finally arrives in Livorno.
\nThe shots of the photographer from the prestigious Parisian agency Magnum land in Livorno with the exhibition “Life’s a beach<\/strong>“: the exhibition will open Saturday, Sept. 25, at 6 p.m. at the Granaries of Villa Mimbelli<\/strong> (Via San Jacopo in Acquaviva, 65) home of the Giovanni Fattori Civic Museum.
\nThere will be 56 photographs<\/strong> on display and they will tell the story of the world of bathers<\/strong> in their free time, while lying in the sun, without “defenses,” in bathing suits, while relaxing. “Life is a beach or the beach is life<\/em>,” says Giovanni Lav<\/strong>iosa, president of the Carlo Laviosa Foundation. If humans tended to seek out their community, understood as individuals who look alike, they might do so on the beach as well.
\nThanks to Martin Parr for giving us food for thought by showing us what we often miss.
\nI am reminded of the difference between education, understood as a cross-community respect for differences, and manners, another manifestation of seeking one’s community but sectarian and hypocritical if an end in itself.

\nThe exhibition, which takes on multiple meanings related to Livorno, which has always been a city of the sea that has made bathing a way of life, is promoted by the Carlo Laviosa Foundation<\/strong> in co-partnership with the Municipality of Livorno<\/strong> and the Magnum<\/strong> agency in Paris<\/strong>.
\n“Martin Parr<\/em>,” explains Serafino Fasulo<\/strong>, curator of the exhibition. is a reporter of the everyday, a worker of the gaze, photographing habits and customs that tell the human soul, unmasking the clich\u00e9s behind which triviality, grotesqueness and degraded culture are often hidden.
\nHe is able to see what we are addicted to and put us in front of a mirror that returns an image that is anything but gratifying.
