From June 14 to 16, the renowned Sicilian photographer will be at the Laviosa Minerals headquarters<\/h2>\n

After the exhibition “Letizia Battaglia – Photographs<\/em>” organized at the Granaries of Villa Mimbelli by the Carlo Laviosa Foundation<\/strong> in collaboration with the Municipality of Livorno<\/strong>, the famous Sicilian photographer returns to Livorno for a workshop dedicated to the theme “Landscapes, Passions and Contaminations<\/em>.”
\nThe workshop, organized by the Carlo Laviosa Foundation as part of the “Photography and the World of Work<\/em>” project, is scheduled from Friday, June 14, to Sunday, June 16<\/strong>, at the Laviosa Minerals headquarters on Via Leonardo da Vinci 21\/b.

Letizia Battaglia, photo by Alessandra Mangione<\/figcaption><\/figure> “Letizia Battaglia was fascinated by the industrial area of the city<\/em>,” says Carlo Laviosa Foundation artistic director Serafino Fasulo. That is why we proposed her to work in the Laviosa Minerals headquarters, which, like all industrial settings, is endowed with a photogenic quality that has always fascinated photographers from all over the world.
\nWorking in this context is perfectly in tune with the aims of the Foundation, which is to tell the world of work, but also with the path that Letizia Battaglia has been pursuing for some time: relating urban backgrounds, in this case industrial, and female bodies.
\nThat is why on Saturday, June 15, the protagonist of the shots at Laviosa Minerals will be a model.
\nThe industrial landscape is perceived as an environmental disfigurer and, at the same time, a source of income for millions of people, but few wonder how we would live without industry and how we could improve its relationship with the environment.
\nIndustry horrifies us, but when one closes it is a tragedy for workers, their families and the community.
\nThe workshop and photo contest proposed this year by our Foundation aims to develop a “photo debate” on a topic that often causes us to take contradictory positions.
\nA certain culture hates industry, but lives because of it.
\nWe would therefore like to ask questions: is an industry that does not offend possible?
\nHow do landscapes and customs change by virtue of industry?
\nCan human life disregard industry? <\/em>“. \"Photos Letizia Battaglia is famous for her images of Mafia deaths<\/strong> and Cosa Nostra bosses<\/strong>, but her real passion is the world of women.<\/strong>
\n“I love photographing women because I am supportive<\/em>,” the Sicilian photographer has said in the past, ” They still have to overcome so many obstacles to happiness, in this macho society that wants them eternally young, beautiful, with a conception of love that often, in reality, is only possession<\/em>.
\nAnd as for her personal way of conceiving photography, on the occasion of the exhibition at the Granaries of Villa Mimbelli<\/strong> she explained, ” Quality is most important, as is discipline in work, research in design.
\nWe don’t want superficial photographs.
\nA photograph is yourself fitting into the world.
\nIt is your heart beating, your head thinking.
\nA photographer, if he doesn’t go to the movies, if he doesn’t read books, if he doesn’t listen to music, he can never have depth.
\nHe may have talent, but over time talent alone does not hold up. <\/em>“.
